JD coach

Check how well a job description will screen, apply suggested fixes, and draft or restructure a role brief.

The JD coach helps you write job descriptions that screen well. Analysis compares each resume with the job-description text only, so the coach focuses on what that text needs: clear must-haves, separate nice-to-haves, and the constraints candidates must meet.

The coach sits quietly at the bottom of the job-description editor in New analysis and in Job descriptions → Add job description or Edit. The line shows the word count and a match-readiness verdict. Select it to open the full coach. The JD coach does not count toward resume-analysis or interview quotas.

Match readiness

The verdict is one of:

  • Ready for matching: screening has what it needs.
  • Could match better: requirements are present but could be clearer or better prioritised.
  • Hard to match: screening has little to work with, for example no requirements section.

Only issues that change screening affect the verdict. The open coach also shows a 0–100 match-readiness score and how it splits across requirements, specificity, and structure.

Affects matching and tips

The coach separates what it finds into two groups:

GroupExamplesEffect
Affects matchingNo requirements section, must-haves not separated from nice-to-haves, more than eight must-haves, many years-of-experience thresholds, generic requirements, no responsibilities, no sections or bullets, very short textLowers the verdict until fixed
Tips for candidatesPay range, company name, role summary, location or remote policy, seniority, filler phrases, inclusive wording, lengthShown collapsed; never changes the verdict

Wording checks are English-only; other checks work in any language.

Review with AI

In the open coach, choose Review with AI for a fuller verdict and up to six suggested fixes. Fixes that affect matching are listed first; tip suggestions sit with the other tips. Each suggestion quotes the text it would change and shows the replacement.

  • Apply edits the description. Choose Undo in the confirmation to restore the previous text.
  • Dismiss hides a suggestion.
  • Text changed means you edited the quoted text after the review, so the suggestion can no longer be applied.

The review also shows what screening will look for (must-haves, nice-to-haves, and constraints) and questions worth answering in the description. After you edit the text, choose Review again to refresh the verdict. Reviewing unchanged text shows the saved review.

Suggestions never invent pay, benefits, company details, or locations. Where information is missing, they use a placeholder such as [add salary range] for you to fill in.

Draft or restructure

  • Draft with coach appears when the description is empty. Enter the title, what the person will do, and the must-haves; level, location, work mode, pay range, nice-to-haves, and team context are optional. The coach writes a structured job description that you can edit.
  • Restructure into sections appears in the open coach when the description has no headings or has a very long paragraph. It reorganises your text without changing its facts. If the result would drop or change too much of your text, it is discarded and your text is kept.

Both actions replace the description text and offer Undo.

Description and details

The description is the only part of a saved role that screening reads. Title, company, team, location, and level are optional Details used for search, lists, and filters. Leave them blank and ProBB AI fills them in from the description after you save. If a requirement such as location matters for screening, write it in the description as well; the coach reminds you when a location appears only in the details.

Saved roles

A saved role shows its match-readiness verdict next to its title. A sparkle icon means the verdict comes from an AI review of the current text; otherwise it comes from the automatic checks. Members and Admins can select it to open the role in the editor.

When enough of your workspace's roles have been analysed, the coach may show how roles rated Ready for matching performed in your workspace, for example how many fewer candidates received a borderline result. This appears only when your own data shows a clear difference.

Access and limits

Members and Admins can use every coach feature. Viewers can see the verdict and automatic checks but cannot run AI reviews, drafts, or restructures.

AI coach actions are limited to 20 per person per minute and 400 per workspace per day. Showing a saved review does not count. When a limit is reached, the automatic checks keep working.
