Connect an AI assistant
Add ProBB AI to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another assistant, choose what it may do, and check that it works.
Connecting takes a few minutes. You copy an address from ProBB AI, add it to your assistant as a custom connector, then sign in and approve what the assistant can do. For what you can ask afterwards, see work with an AI assistant.
Before you start
- You need to belong to the organisation you want to connect. If you belong to several, you choose one during sign-in.
- An admin must have Allow AI assistants switched on. It is on by default. If it is off, you cannot connect, and the connection page tells you AI assistants are turned off.
- Your role sets the ceiling. Admins and Members can allow reading, changes, and spending credits. Viewers can only allow reading.
- Menu names in your assistant vary by app version and plan. If a name below does not match, look for the settings area for connectors, apps, or MCP servers.
Copy the address
- In ProBB AI, open Settings and select AI assistants.
- In Connect an assistant, choose Copy address to copy the Probb MCP server address.
If copying does not work, select the address field and copy it by hand.
Add it to your assistant
Claude
- Open claude.ai and go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Enter a name such as "ProBB AI" and paste the address into the URL field.
- Add the connector and follow the sign-in prompt.
On a team or enterprise plan, an owner may need to add the connector for the organisation first. Then you connect it with your own account.
ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT Settings and look for Connectors, Apps, or a developer mode option for adding your own connector. The name and availability depend on your plan.
- Choose to create or add a custom connector.
- Enter a name such as "ProBB AI" and paste the address as the server URL.
- Choose OAuth sign-in if asked how the connector authenticates, then follow the sign-in prompt.
Cursor
- Open Cursor Settings and find the MCP (tools) section.
- Add a new MCP server of the remote, URL-based kind.
- Paste the address as the server URL.
- Follow the sign-in prompt when Cursor asks you to authenticate.
Other assistants
Any assistant that supports custom connectors using remote MCP servers can connect. Add a connector, paste the address as the server URL, and sign in when prompted. Developers can find the technical details in the MCP server reference.
Sign in and approve
Your assistant opens a ProBB AI page in your browser.
- Sign in to ProBB AI if you are not already.
- Choose an organisation. If you belong to more than one, pick the one the assistant should use. Organisations with AI assistants turned off cannot be picked. A connection works for one organisation only.
- Review and allow. The consent page names the assistant and the organisation, then lists what it will be able to do:
- See jobs, candidates, reports, interview results and credit balance. This is always needed and cannot be unticked.
- Save jobs, add candidates and record hiring decisions.
- Start resume analyses and interviews that use credits, each only after you confirm it.
- Untick anything you do not want. If you untick the changes option, the credits option is switched off too, because starting paid work counts as a change.
- Choose Allow.
If you are a Viewer, the page shows a notice that the assistant will only be able to read, and offers only the reading permission.
You are then returned to your assistant. Your connection appears under Your assistants in Settings → AI assistants, with when it was connected and last active.
Check that it worked
Ask your assistant: "What needs my attention this week?" It should reply with your open jobs and any reports or interviews waiting on you. If it asks you to sign in again or says it cannot reach ProBB AI, see troubleshooting.
Change permissions or organisation
You cannot edit a connection after it is made. To change what an assistant may do, or which organisation it uses:
- In Settings → AI assistants, find the assistant under Your assistants and choose Disconnect.
- Connect it again and make your new choices.
If your role is raised, for example from Viewer to Member, reconnect so the assistant can ask for the extra permissions. If your role is lowered, the change applies on the assistant's next request.
Disconnect
Choose Disconnect next to the assistant under Your assistants. It stops working straight away. You can also remove the connector inside the assistant, but disconnecting in ProBB AI is what ends its access to your workspace.
